WELCOME
The Town of Dayton and the Village of South Dayton are located in Cattaraugus County, New York. Dayton is situated in the northwest corner of the county bounded on the west by Chautauqua County, Perrysburg on the north, Leon on the South, and Persia on the east. The Village is situated in the southwest corner of the Town and bounded on the west by Chautauqua County.
The Village was formerly named Pine Valley until the Post Office changed the name in the early 1900's. There are also the Hamlets of Cottage, Dayton, Wesley, Markham - where the Town Government is located, and Fair Plain.
It is mostly a rural area - - a great place to raise a family and be close to may year-round activities.

The Dayton Fire Company is looking for persons who live in the Hamlet of Dayton to serve as Fire Commissioners. There is a 5 year, 3 year and 4 year term that will be open. Interested persons should have their intentions sent in writing to Ruth Ranke, 11798 Markham-Wesley Rd., Gowanda N Y 14070 by November 18, 2020. The election will be held at the Dayton Fire Hall on Route 62 in Dayton on December 8, 2020 from 6-9 p.m. If anyone has questions, Ruth can be reached at 716-532-2850.
